In-House Knee Simulator
We have developed a bespoke knee simulator capable of reproducing the coupled, unconstrained kinematics of mobile bearings under realistic boundary conditions. The system allows for controlled variation of axial load, flexion-extension, internal-external rotation, and anterior-posterior translation, while enabling free bearing motion within the articulation. This facilitates in-depth investigation of bearing mobility, contact mechanics, and wear behaviour under near-physiological conditions.
The simulator provides an essential platform for evaluating implant designs beyond ISO conformity, offering valuable data on wear performance, failure modes, and design optimization in mobile-bearing UKR systems.
