Our
Story
Funded by an impact award at Oxford Brookes University, in Dr Olga Barrera' Lab. This initiative tackles a major challenge in biomechanics: the lack of standardization of testing procedures and models. By building open, interactive repositories, we aim to facilitate data comparison and sharing among research groups.
We boast the largest database of mechanical data on meniscus tissue, with over 400 test datasets and 1TB of high-resolution images. Our database is continuously expanding thanks to ongoing research projects and new students.
Our standards for soft tissue slicing, sample preparation, and mechanical testing are implemented in three research labs across Europe. Some of our datasets are available on Zenodo, while others are included as supplementary material in journal papers or on GitHub.
Our goal is to create a unique, interactive, and open database where users can engage with data and contribute to its labelling and description, addressing the current data scarcity in biomechanics. Explore our app and join us in advancing the field.
